For larger (moveable) structures such as bridges and locks, an incorporation study is often done before the structure is transported and installed.

The surrounding fixed structure is measured on site. In this first instance, the theoretical incorporation of what will be built is done.

In the second instance, this same incorporation study is done based on the actual dimensions the built structure.
